Shoppers at Clock Towers Shopping Centre in Rugby are “in for a tweet” over the coming weeks as a “new generation of offers and promotions” is launched.
The Shopping Centre is now on Twitter – enabling updates for shoppers, seven days-a-week. The micro-blogging celebrates its fifth birthday this week (21st March). Over the past nine months, new users are registering accounts at an average of 460,000 per day, generating one billion tweets per week.
Tony Spencer of Clock Towers Shopping Centre explains: “This is an explosion in terms of communication – and we are proud to be leading the way in offering daily information to our customers.” Tony adds: “But this is not just about plugging special offers from our stores. We are flagging up job opportunities from our retailers, links to the retailers own websites for their product launches – and even providing shoppers with tips and fashion advice.”
Tony adds: “We understand the importance of communication with our shoppers. Our website continues to be extremely popular, but social media takes the art of communication to a whole new level. Through twitter, we are able to update shoppers in real time – reaching them whether at home, at work or when they are shopping with us.”
Tony explains the true benefits saying: “Twitter is not one-sided. It allows interaction with our customers – and them with each other. It is about the conversation. We are seeing shoppers expressing their views and ideas, sharing their experiences for everyone’s benefit. It is instant media – driven by customers.”
